Quality is not an act,
but a habit.

Focused
The old vines and the unique terroir: Vineyard and cellar are a matter of both heart and mind for us. We know that we can only rely on the quality of our wines if we consistently maintain sustainability and handcraft. Our soil’s health is our most valuable asset, which is why we only fertilize it organically. For our high quality wines, we rely on gentle grape processing and a moderate maceration period. Due to the cooler weather conditions here at Spitzer Graben, the ideal time for harvesting the grapes is often quite late, which is why we sometimes still pick the grapes from the vines by hand in November.
We rely on long lees aging and allow some of our wines to mature in large wooden barrels – always with the aim of creating wines with power, depth and aging potential.

Uncompromising
Quality, origin and handcraft: as a member of VINEA WACHAU, we are fully committed to natural wine production, guaranteed origin and strict self-monitoring. Only because we live these values every day can our wines develop their uniqueness.
Our wines

Wines with character originate where they take root. Every vineyard has its own particular story: You will find their expression and individuality reflected in our wines – above all those at Spitzer Graben. Its climatic conditions reflect the Wachau region at its best. This is where we cultivate most of our vineyards.

Grüner Veltliner
Wachau | Steinfeder®
Our light Veltliner, taut and lively on the palate, with subtle citrus notes – perfect for the summer months

Grüner Veltliner
Wachauer Terrassen | Federspiel®
The classic par excellence reflects the diversity of our vineyards: medium-bodied, juicy fruit notes, fine fruit sweetness, good acidity structure, lovely finesse, good length

Grüner Veltliner
Ried Zornberg | Smaragd®
Matured in large oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks, pronounced bouquet, lively interplay of fruit and acidity, precise and spicy finish, long-lasting, ageing potential

Grüner Veltliner
Alte Kultur | Smaragd®
Matured in large oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks, from our oldest Veltliner vines (50+ years), complex nose, full-bodied, fine tannins and grapefruit on the finish, lasts very long on the palate, ageing potential

Riesling
Spitzer Graben | Federspiel®
A reflection of the Spitzer Graben—focused and cool, yet with a lovely texture, medium density, balanced acidity structure, good fruit, fine elegance

Riesling
Ried Offenberg | Smaragd®
Here the Spitzer Graben speaks for itself: at around 370 m above sea level, our Riesling vines grow on the Offenberg – cool and yet very ripe, fine tannins in the background, definitely ageing potential

Riesling
Ried 1000-Eimerberg | Smaragd®
The flagship site for top-quality Rieslings – south-easterly exposure, dense and full-bodied, partly matured in large oak barrels, yellow peach, melon, long finish

Neuburger
Spitzer Graben | Federspiel®
Neuburger is the original variety of the Spitzer Graben: nutty on the nose, balanced on the palate, an outstanding food companion

Neuburger
Spitzer Graben | Smaragd®
The maximum that can be achieved with Neuburger: in the Smaragd category it shows its full potential – dense, balanced, a highly sought-after rarity

Pinot Blanc
Spitzer Graben | Smaragd®
Produced from a small parcel on the Offenberg – small in quantity, great in quality. Pinot Blanc in Wachau style: long ripening on the vine, yet not overly complex, matured in large oak barrels, extended ageing on fine lees

Rosé stands for pure joie de vivre – light, elegant, well chilled and invigorating: just as you imagine a summer wine for the terrace

Frizzante Rosé Zweigelt
Sparkling Rosé, perfect for the start of a wonderful evening – fresh and lively

Appreciative
The old vineyards are particularly important to us, as they carry the valuable DNA of the Wachau and the Spitzer Graben. They are complex to maintain, but worth every effort. The grapevines already have deep roots, they are resistant to drought, and they absorb many minerals from the subsoil – one of the reasons for the matchless Wachau wine taste.
We have already leased or bought one or the other old, dilapidated vineyard and brought it back to life with new dry stonewalls and frames. Then we straighten the vines and apart from that leave them as they grew. They thank us with the most magnificent grapes.
We are glad if you like us
